If the spout is far off, they can be difficult to see at first. Once you get used to spotting them, they really are not that difficult. Once you see them, you’ll have your chance to see more of the whale. The spout happens when they surface for air. From that point, there is a good chance they will dive back down. When this happens, you’ll have a chance to see the curve of their back and possibly the tail going back under.
